1. How do I start the landscaping process?

The first step in landscaping your home is to schedule an on-site consultation. This consultation will serve as the foundation for developing a landscape plan whether your project is new construction from bare ground or a renovation project. During this first meeting the designer will listen to the client’s needs, wants and goals for the landscape project. We will discuss plant types, uses for different areas (rooms), hardscape materials along with a budget (if known). The designer will also answer any questions the client may have concerning the landscaping and business practices.

2. What information should I provide at the on-site consultation?

The client should be prepared to provide general ideas of what they want to accomplish with landscaping and a list of any specific plants, hardscaping (walkways, patios, retaining walls, water features, etc) or other elements in the landscape.

3. Do I need a design?

A design will not be needed depending on the size and scope of the project. An example will be if you just want a paver driveway installed. We can come and measure the area and work up a price for installation without a design. Many associations require landscape drawings so work can be approved. Some associations require not only landscape, but irrigation and drainage plans also. Plans are needed to pull permits for arbors, retaining walls, etc. There will be no charge for this meeting, unless it is a insurance claim. For insurance claims we charge $65.00 an hour. This fee will be refunded when the work is done.

4. Is there a fee for the landscape design?

The first meeting (up to one hour) is free. We have a minimum charge of $500.00 for design work. Final cost will depend on the size and scope of your project. The designer will be able to give you an estimate when he visits the site. To begin the design, a deposit of 50% of the design cost will be needed. After the deposit in made the designer will measure your yard and begin the design. The designer will start the design and get the major elements on paper and call you for a meeting to go over the drawing. This allows the clients to review the drawing and give the designer feed back on the design.

The designer will them make the changes (if any) and complete the drawing. The design process will usually take 2 to 4 weeks.

5. What if we already have a design?

If you already have landscape plans drawn up, we are happy to take a look at your project and give you an estimate based on this drawing. We will need a set of these drawings to take with us, so please have an extra set.
